Writing Decimals in Standard Form Picture Reveal Boom Cards is an internet based activity. It is paperless and self-grading. Great for 1:1 classrooms. In this activity, students will see a number in word form and will write that number in standard form. Students will answer by entering their response. Whole numbers include ones, tens and hundreds place. Decimals include tenths, hundredths, and thousandths place.
This is a picture reveal activity.
- Every time a student answers a question correctly, a part of the mystery picture will be revealed.
- Questions must be answered in order and cards cannot be hidden or skipped.
Prerequisite skills needed to use this activity
- Recognizing how each word corresponds to a digit and its position.
- Knowing the roles of commas and decimal points in the numerical representation.
- Distinguishing between the whole number part and the fractional part based on “and.”
- Adding zeros as placeholders when necessary:
- Converting place value terms like “tenths,” “hundredths,” or “thousandths” into their decimal equivalents.
