Created for 6th grade. In level 1, all questions can be solved using the equivalent ratios method. Each word problem has three parts and students must complete each part before moving on to the next one.
- Identify part, whole, or percent (multiple choice)
- Set up the proportion (drag and drop)
- Determine the correct answer (multiple choice)
Prerequisite skills needed to use this activity
- Recognizing that percent refers to a number out of 100, the whole is the total or complete amount, and the part is a portion of the whole.
- Extracting the information from the word problem to determine which quantity is the whole, which is the part, and what is the percent.
- Creating an equation based on the problem, using the relationship between percent, whole, and part.
- Understand equivalent ratios.
